  1. Why muck around, the client bought this vehicle. I am sure that they can AFFORD to PROPERLY MAINTAIN it? I would just get the fluid from Mercedes, then you do not have to worry about compatibility issues, and sell them the WHOLE UNIT. DCT Fluid = $1,000.00 that should be the line item and customer pay for the fluid, if not MORE!!! YOU did not BUILD it You Did Not BUY it, You Did Not BREAK it! You should not stress out about this. You are obviously a good conscientious technician. Do the repair to the best of your ability, DO IT RIGHT & CHARGE ACCORDINGLY!! DO NOT be ashamed or hesitant to CHARGE A LOT!!! What ever you think it should be - DOUBLE IT!! If they go the dealer, then the dealer is MARRIED to them / it and NOT you!!!
  2. Angelo, Same exact codes showed in AutoLogic, easier to post from the Snap-On. AL would not let me combine/list codes

  4. We repaired the existing harness VERY carefully and all went well. Insurance company paid for the whole thing. Skip, we did a clutch on this this vehicle last summer so that was OKAY. Thanks, your p-car advice is always very helpful.

  6. I am going to close this up for Omar. We unplugged all modules and voltage at DLC remained the same. Figured we may have some sort of a "hard short." Customer is/was a "DIYer" and did not want to pay to continue with the test plan. See ya later, dont let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. In a way I am glad it left, nobody was looking forward to going through that car, and the Rialtas are no fun to work on, they barely fit in our bays. so we can edit the closed file ... for what it may be worth i use a network wire tracer , mine is a fluke , but they are all similar anyway if you inject a signal into a suspected grounded / shorted line then follow the wire / harness as best you can with the receiving wand you can sometimes follow the boop boop boop to where it ends ... with the receiving wand and where the booping ends is where the wire / harness is grounded , or where it bends in into an un followable abyss ... this tool has saved my self a lot of time and it has been useless sometimes ... either way they are under $100 doll hairs and well worth the price .... sometimes

  10. No news as of this time We are awaiting further monies, we do not want to caught "ASS OUT", if they do not want to pay any more monies towards repair. Thank you all again for the information provided Our Plans going forward are to: Set Timing Adjust Fuel Distributor Valve Adjustment POTENTIALLY replace the poorly spraying Fuel Injectors As long as the funding is forth coming
  11. Angelo, Thank you I really appreciate you taking the time Omar
  12. Jivi, Sorry about that, the vehicle came to us from another shop They had installed a rebuilt fuel distributor and it WOULD NOT RUN! Then they repositioned the ignition distributor, put a cap and rotor on, had the firing order off, it was kind of a Cluster#$%^ We have it running now, it is running very rich and very poorly, I just need some basic setting information and procedures so that i can ATTEMPT to dial it in Thank you

BATTERY DEAD!! Charge battery Set up fused jumper wire/switch to run fuel pump Extract 2 paired fuel injectors from cylinder head as needed. Activate fuel pump Injectors are spraying a VERY HEAVY, lopsided spray. Adjust fuel distributor to reduce spray to almost nothing. Adjust fuel distributor again with fuel pump jumped so that it just starts to spray when the plate on the fuel distributor is activated Inspect ignition timing. According to the markings on the distributor cap, the firing order is INCORRECT Mark front crank pulley Bring engine up on TDC (Top Dead Center) of cylinder #1 Ignition rotor is pointing at #5 ignition wire on distributor cap Remove and re-align the ignition distributor as needed Re-positioned ignition wires for CORRECT Firing Order. Remove and clean spark plugs. ReGap spark plugs as needed DIAGNOSTICS / TEST PERFORMED: VEHICLE TOWED IN! BATTERY DEAD!! Charge battery Set up fused jumper wire/switch to run fuel pump. I apologize, there is NOT an emissions tag under the hood, I do not have a clue as to the engine designation. Is there some where on the vehicle that I can locate this? It is an inline 6 cylinder DOHC, there is not ANY emissions related equipment on the vehicle: No Cats No Air Pump
  14. I know this is going to sound odd, but we have had VOLVOs and BMWs that would not complete readiness drive cycles due to a weak.poorly functioning thermostat. Thermostat would not allow vehicle to get up to operating temperature quickly enough. If it had a tune, maybe someone swapped out t-stat for a lower temperature t-stat. Just throwing it out there
  15. Thomas, Instead of going crazy trying to resolve the issue with the correct sunroof, why don't you just get a used one and replace it? Just MHO
